The design industry has DIFFA, the music industry has Lifebeat and Broadway has Equity Fights AIDS. And the special events industry has its own foundation to help take care of event professionals with life threatening diseases: Special Event Industry Aid & Response for Care & Hope (Search) Foundation. The difference with the special events industry is that people in need can receive rides to hospitals from limousine companies, meals delivered to their homes from gourmet caterers and entertainment to lift their spirits from innovative entertainment companies.
On Friday evening at the Special Event 2001, the Search Foundation produced its annual cabaret night benefit at the Ruins. The show featured entertainment from Big Wave International, Designs by Sean, Empire Force Events, Harrah's Casino, Steve Kemble, Nova Era, Bobbi Taylor and the night's M.C., Mark Kamp of Marvelless Mark.
The talk of the evening was the Search Foundation's new 2001 calendar. Each month features an event industry leader in a provocative pose:
* Bobbi Taylor of BT Event Productions Inc.
* Romaine Pereira and Issac Astorga of International Corporate Events
* Sheri Pizitz of Events Unlimited Inc.
* Mona Meretsky of Comcor Event and Meeting Production Inc.
* Lena Malouf of Lena Malouf Events
* John Daly Jr. of John Daly Inc. International
* Sean DeFreitas of Designs by Sean
* Richard Carbotti of Perfect Surroundings Inc.
* Richard Aaron, BiZBash's own president
* Carol McKibben of McKibben Communications
* Tim Lundy of Rosewood Market
* Steve Kemble of Steve Kemble Event Design (Kemble kept his clothes on for his photo, but he's also known for holding a Bourbon Street bash that included lots of flashing at this year's after hours party.)
Applications are now being accepted for the 2002 edition. Rumor has it that someone has already promised to pose in a bubble bath.
