Eighteenth-century Virginia came alive at the New-York Historical Society's History Makers gala at the society. In honor of Colin Campbell, president and CEO of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and one of the evening's honorees, the event had an elegant Colonial Williamsburg theme.
Gena Bardwell, the society's director of special events, produced the event and managed the period details by choosing the intricate toile fabric table linens in red and blue, and selecting the bell-shaped stemware, pewter charger plates and a flatware pattern modeled after the Thomas Jefferson's set from Monticello. Beautiful, multi-textured floral centerpieces from Gotham Gardens graced the tables. Chefs from Creative Edge studied the menus from the restaurant at Colonial Williamsburg to deliver an authentic meal to guests, which included roasted corn soup, baked fig pudding, and apple cobbler and vanilla ice cream for dessert.
Following the cocktail hour in the Great Hall, the Colonial Williamsburg Fifes and Drums group guided guests into the theater where the awards were presented. Dinner and dancing followed, with music by Situation Entertainment.
