The highly anticipated Season 4 premiere of HBO's Game of Thrones commenced with a party worthy of kings. The Milstein Hall of Ocean Life in New York City’s American Museum of Natural History was transformed into an exciting and interactive experience. Robert D'Alessandro of Invision Events Inc. worked alongside HBO's Michael McMorrow and Cindy Tenner to create a “Fire and Ice”-theme atmosphere inspired by the series.
Guests were led through chain archways that dramatically revealed projected flames engulfing the giant whale and ceiling of the museum.
Monochromatic shades of grey permeated the main floor, while textural lighting patterns created an ominous frost-like appearance on the lower level. An array of fabrics reminiscent of show’s costumes lavishly dressed tabletops and captured the elegance of the period. Waiters were styled in black with custom bow ties made from the Game of Thrones family sigils. Custom centerpieces with chain, metal deer antlers, and rustic driftwood added a modern edge to the overall design. Faux animal furs accented the chic lounge areas surrounding the balcony.
Invision Events created a custom snow-cone bar carved entirely from ice. Guests sampled a “bit of the wall” with flavors such as Dragon’s Blood and Night's Watch that were dispensed from custom labeled bottles. Guests also enjoyed interactive exhibits that showcased costumes from the series and were given an opportunity to sit in a replica of the Iron Throne.
