TEAMBUILDING: Adventures in Your Backyard

April 9, 2002, 12:00 AM EDT

You don't have to fly across the country to use the thrills and challenges of adventure racing (think kayaking, canoeing and mountain biking in scenic outdoor locales) as a teambuilding exercise for a corporate group. Schneider & Vandegrift, a firm that designs and leads adventure racing programs at resorts and parks across the country, can also scout out local spots--like Central Park--for groups who want to stay closer to home. Standard activities are hiking and orienteering, while the more extreme ones include rappelling from a 50-foot cliff. The company can also coordinate travel, accommodations and equipment rentals; prices vary by program. --Jill Musguire
