Looking for a somewhat playful reflection of these tough times, event designers and marketers have incorporated bold graphics inspired by Soviet propaganda and Constructivist art into event decor, invites, and campaigns. With more than a touch of irony, of course. The likely inspiration for the trend is Shepard Fairey, the artist who created the Obama “Hope” campaign poster.
