VENUE: Scandinavia House Offers Sleek Design

April 9, 2001, 12:00 AM EDT

It's not every day that a brand-new building pops up on Park Avenue, but the Scandinavia House did just that in October. The cultural center's hard-to-miss Scandinavian architecture and interior design makes the building stand out from its older neighbors in the East 30s, and it offers a few different spaces for special events. Volvo Hall, with its lovely patio, can accommodate 100 guests for a sit-down meal, or as many as 225 for a cocktail party. (The base rate to rent Volvo Hall is $750 for four hours, and two hours' worth of hors d'oeuvres from the venue's exclusive caterer, Aquavit, starts at $45 per person.) Downstairs, the 168-seat Victor Borge Hall (shown here) boasts state-of-the art audio and visual equipment, ideal for movie screenings or business conferences. (The base rate to rent Victor Borge Hall is $2,000 for four hours.) And a cafe will open later this month.
