Hermès launched its new men’s fragrance, Terre, with a clean-looking, stripped down party at new Chelsea venue Lotus Space. The brand’s director of special events, Rory Hermelee, and visual director, Mark Coats, planned the event, where guests previewed the new scent during the cocktail hour by sampling hors d’oeuvres from Tentation Potel & Chabot that contained the same ingredients as the fragrance (cedar, grapefruit, pepper, flint, geranium). A model from T&L Events Inc./The Party Crew offered the nibbles from TwoSeven’s shiny metallic tables printed with the name of the ingredient.
Afterward, Tentation prepared dinner for 40 guests at a single long, white banquet table at the back of the room, topped with Hermès porcelain, Saint Louis crystal, and minimalist centerpieces of white roses and orange sand from Luis Collazo of Lotus. Tentation’s four-course menu included pumpkin-crusted Nantucket cod with risotto, pumpkin beurre blanc, pumpernickel croutons and lemon geranium leaves; and filet of beef au poivre with cedar roasted.phparagus and wild mushroom timbale with smoked pancetta—all based on the ingredients in the fragrance. During dinner, New York Sound & Visual projected the commercial advertising the fragrance onto the venue’s back wall.
