* INCOMING *

1. INNOVATION TALK AT P.C.M.A. From West Coast editor Alesandra Dubin: At the Professional Convention Management Association's annual meeting, innovation was the main topic. Meeting planners brainstormed during sessions at the Convening Leaders conference Tuesday about thinking differently to revive events. Here's the story:

2. HITS AND MISSES AT PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS: Last night, “The Big Bang Theory” star Kaley Cuoco hosted the 38th annual awards at L.A.’s Nokia Theater, ending Queen Latifah's five-year run. Awards went to a number of no-shows, including Katy Perry, the cast of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part II," and Johnny Depp, which is perhaps a sign the show needs a revamp. Before the awards aired on CBS, Gawker was already quick to dismiss the annual fete, claiming “all awards are stupid” and something’s popularity “does not mean it deserves public recognition during prime time on network television and to have it's name announced by the female lead on ‘The Big Bang Theory.’”

3. OSCARS LEAVING HOLLYWOOD?: The Hollywood Reporter: "Only days after the motion picture academy notified the Kodak Theatre in late December that it won’t automatically renew its option to present the Oscars there after 2013, an aggressive suitor with deep pockets has emerged. AEG, which operates the L.A. Live and 7,100-seat Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, already is in discussions with academy officials, according to a source close to the talks."

5. GM'S AGENCY SELECTION: General Motors's chief marketing officer Joel Ewanick on choosing an agency and Super Bowl ads. AdAge: "The agency-review process, however, isn't delaying GM's plans for the Super Bowl. Mr. Ewanick and his staff are also working on five spots for the Big Game, but none will involve placing GM vehicles in other advertisers's spots. He said that earlier last year, he'd met with other advertisers about the possibility of doing just that."

Speaking of automotive brands and the Super Bowl, Chrysler's chief marketing officer, Olivier Francois, has yet to decide what its 60-second ad will contain, but did speak to the marketing failures of last year's Fiat launch. AdAge:
