1. BILL AND HILLARY CLINTON ANNOUNCE LIVE EVENT TOUR: Bill and Hillary Clinton will go on a live event tour later this year and in 2019. The Clintons announced the series of events will be called "An Evening with The Clintons." CNN: "The tour will provide the Democratic stalwarts with a notable platform weeks after the consequential 2018 midterm elections and deep into 2019, when a number of Democrats will be jockeying for positions in the fight to be the party's standard bearer against President Donald Trump in 2020. The events, which are being produced by tour promoter Live Nation, are being billed as [a] 'one-of-a-kind conversation with two individuals who have helped shape our world and had a front seat to some of the most important moments in modern history.' 'From the American presidency to the halls of the Senate and State Department to one of the United States' most controversial and unpredictable presidential elections, they provide a unique perspective on the past, and remarkable insight into where we go from here,' reads the website dedicated to the tour. The tour will start in Las Vegas, Nevada, with an event at the Park Theater. The couple will then travel to Toronto, Montreal, and Texas before the end of 2018. The tour will start back up in April of 2019 with events in New York, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, the District of Colombia, British Columbia, Washington, and California." https://cnn.it/2IJFOhL
2. NEW YORK COMIC CON BRINGS IN $100 MILLION FOR BIGGEST YEAR YET: The 13th edition of New York Comic Con closed out its biggest year yet on Sunday, bringing in more than $100 million to the city's economy. The convention sold more than 250,000 tickets and expanded to hold events at six other locations near its Javits Center base. CNBC: "At least 250,000 people bought tickets to attend the four-day conference that closed Sunday, quite a bit more than the 12,000 attendees from the convention’s first year, Mike Armstrong, event director at ReedPop, told CNBC. 'It’s definitely our biggest year yet,' Armstrong said. 'We’ve grown steadily every year since 2006. We sell out of tickets very quickly, we sell out of booth space very quickly, we don’t really have any more room for sponsorship so, we know that we have to continue growing outside of the Javits Center.' ReedPop has expanded the convention beyond the 840,000-square-foot exhibition space at the Javits Center to six other locations nearby, including Madison Square Garden and the Hammerstein Ballroom. The conference hosted more than 420 panel discussions on topics ranging from Superman’s 80th anniversary to female writers of Star Wars novels and comics. The convention is estimated to have brought in more than $100 million for New York, as attendees pay for hotel rooms, take public transportation, and dine at restaurants, according to ReedPop. Armstrong declined to disclose the revenue expectations for this year’s show, but he did say that most of the conference sold out, including some of its off-site events. Passes cost roughly $50 a day to attend the conference. Comic conventions have exploded into the mainstream in the last few years, bolstering attendance rates not only in New York, but in San Diego, Chicago, Atlanta, and Seattle." https://cnb.cx/2Cyj18i
3. RAPPER'S PROMOTIONAL EVENT IN L.A. ENDS IN STAMPEDE: A giveaway event organized by rapper Phora in Los Angeles on Monday ended in a stampede with people injured. The event took place at Shoe Palace on Hollywood Boulevard. The Hollywood Reporter: "Several people were reportedly trampled as the crowd rushed the venue. Paramedics evaluated 10 people for minor injuries at the scene, according to ABC, with eight of those apparently taken to local hospitals. The publicity exercise went wrong as some in the crowd began pushing and shoving, with at least one person said to have passed out, according to social media reports. Phora encouraged fans to attend the giveaway to drum up interest in his new album and tour. 'New shoes for anyone who needs them and giving away a bunch of FREE YT/Love Is Hell shirts to whoever comes,' he wrote in a post on Sunday. Later, Phora tweeted an ABC report on the incident. 'I'm so sorry,' he told the broadcaster. 'I personally took someone to the hospital myself. It's super hectic out here tonight. I appreciate the fans, I appreciate the love.' The California rapper starts a national jaunt this Wednesday night at Seattle’s Showbox in support of his new album release, Love Is Hell." https://bit.ly/2NyrWYC
