NATIONAL: The Canada Games Council and Niagara Host Society have postponed Canada's Summer Games until 2022 due to COVID-19 public health concerns. Niagara 2022's opening ceremony is slated to take place Aug. 6 at Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, with a closing ceremony on Aug. 21 at Queen Victoria Park in Niagara Falls.
CALGARY: Noel Christmas Indoor Light Park and Christmas Market will return to Stampede Park from Nov. 27 to Jan. 3. Taking over more than 100,000 square feet of the BMO Centre, the holiday wonderland will feature one million lights plus food vendors, gifts, and other holiday festivities. Organizers have partnered with Calgary Stampede and Alberta Health Services to implement sanitization and other safety practices.
MONTREAL: Montreal Vegan Festival (FVM) is hosting a virtual vegan-themed event series on Nov. 1, 8, and 15. The free digital festival will feature cooking demonstrations, panels with industry experts, and more on FVM's Facebook page.
TORONTO: Glow Gardens is a three-kilometer, drive-through holiday light show, taking place at Safari Niagara from Nov. 18 to Jan 2. In addition to viewing 10-foot snowmen, a large Christmas castle, and more, guests can tune into a designated radio station to hear a custom playlist. To keep the event contactless, tickets must be purchased in advance online. Tickets are $30 per car for up to seven guests.
VANCOUVER: This year's Coquitlam's Lights at Lafarge event has been canceled due to COVID-19. The free holiday lights display typically draws between 8,000 and 10,000 visitors daily. As an alternative, a scaled-down lights display will be posted around the perimeter of the park, designed to be enjoyed from a distance to prevent crowds.
