To act as the best advocate for your client, it is important that event planners as well as venue managers are aware of the rules that govern industry-specific events. For example, planners who execute meetings and events for the medical and pharmaceutical industries face many unique challenges in light of recent changes in legislation, such as the Sunshine Act. These laws require pharmaceutical representatives to adhere to stringent guidelines when wining and dining physicians in terms of the per capita budget allowed.
Coogan’s Restaurant & Gallery Room has been a cornerstone in Manhattan’s Washington Heights community for New York Presbyterian Hospital physicians since 1985. It has remained so by keeping abreast of the regulations that affect the medical community. At Coogan’s Restaurant, pharmaceutical reps can not only bring opinion leaders to a place they know and trust, but can also hold CME (continuing medical education) events in the private Gallery Room, a multipurpose walled room one block from the medical campus. It holds as many as 80 people reception-style for private and corporate events, business dinners, lunch meetings, and cocktail parties with optional audiovisual equipment for presentations. The room is located on a separate side of the venue, away from the bar and restrooms, in order to offer complete privacy and silence as required for these events.
