New Event Tech Tools for July 2023
Experiential entertainment company Illuminarium—in partnership with Toronto-based VR and AR company Secret Location—will open its first Canadian location in Toronto's Distillery Historic District on Aug. 25, 2023. Located inside the 13,500-square-foot former Fermenting Cellar, the experience will combine cutting-edge technology (including advanced RGB pure laser projection by Christie, LIDAR sensors, scent machines, a digital sounds space, and programming using the latest video game engines) with immersive storytelling to create digital, projection-mapped experiences. The Toronto location will debut two shows: "Space: A Journey to the Moon & Beyond" and "Waking Wonderland," a dreamlike journey inspired by Alice in Wonderland. There will also be an adults-only nightlife and hospitality experience called Space After Dark, debuting in September.

Event Technology We're Excited About This Month
To offset your attendees' carbon footprint
Event tech company Gevme has introduced GoGreen, a new platform designed to measure and offset carbon emissions associated with event attendees’ travel. The technology allows guests to calculate their carbon emissions and offset them by contributing to meaningful climate action projects.

“[GoGreen offers] a unique opportunity for event organizers and attendees alike to embrace environmental responsibility right at the starting line: registration,” explains Jonathan Easton, vice president of design at Gevme. “Participants can input their mode of transportation along with their accommodation details, upon which GoGreen calculates their carbon footprint and presents them with a range of carefully selected eco projects available for them to contribute to, either covering carbon avoidance or carbon reduction technologies—thus offsetting their carbon emissions.”

To assist with event registration
Event experience platform Gther has released GeniePT, a new registration add-on that allows users to provide immediate, personalized attention to every potential attendee. The tech works as a digital concierge, ensuring that eventgoers find what they need without having to scroll or search through a robust website. Beyond the typical chatbot, though, GeniePT can learn and adapt and is highly customized; it can even be designed to communicate with a company’s chosen avatar and distinctive brand voice.

Once customers feed the AI model details of the event or brand, eventgoers can ask questions in any language and the chatbot will reply fluently. GeniePT can answer more than simple questions such as "What time is the event?" or "How much do tickets cost?"—users can ask advanced questions like "What is the easiest way to travel to the venue from the airport?" and "I’m interested in sustainability; which speaker sessions should I attend?" What’s more, GeniePT can track every query, helping event hosts gain valuable insights into the sentiments and needs of their registration prospects.

To help automate your email marketing
Marketing automation solutions company Act-On Software has launched Act-On AI Create for enhanced email generation. The new tool aims to help marketers instantly create relevant email content and reduce the time they spend deploying automated programs. With a simple prompt, marketers can quickly generate email content; machine learning helps them craft increasingly unique emails with each new prompt and revision. Act-On AI Create then plugs generated emails and optional subject lines directly into marketers’ templates.

“We see AI as one of those standout technologies that will transform our industry and how marketers work. We are committed to being at the forefront of that transformation,” says Act-On Software CEO Kate Johnson. “True to our vision, Act-On is focused on integrating artificial intelligence to deliver the easiest and most effective marketing automation solution, ensuring every release provides real value to marketers.”

At HITEC 2023, which took place in Toronto June 26-29, PPDS—the brand behind Philips professional displays—showcased its highly sustainable range of “zero-power” digital signage displays to the hospitality industry for the first time. The full-color, full-size, ePaper displays are fully portable and deliver vivid, 24/7 content—while running entirely unplugged. The Philips Tableaux, specifically, is billed as the world’s first 60,000-color ePaper signage solution; it presents an energy-saving solution for hotel and event venues looking to digitize their paper-based signage. Content updates can be managed manually or entirely remotely using PPDS’ in-house or third-party professional display control and management platforms.

To elevate your brand marketing experiences using sound
Sonic branding agency Amp recently debuted a three-part tool called Sonic Hub, which uses AI technology to simplify the sonic branding process for designers and brands. The subscription-based product has three different components: Sonic Radar provides insights into a brand’s use of sounds across its digital channels, while Sonic Check uses machine-learning AI to give users a measurement of that sound—outlining how consumers have responded to similar sounds in the past, and predicting how they’ll respond to a sound in the future to analyze whether it’s a good fit for the brand. Finally, Sonic Space uses generative AI to create new music out of existing music. The proprietary tech has already been utilized by Amp clients including Mastercard and Mercedes-Benz.

“Brands have been in search of a way to quantify, qualify, create, and implement music into their marketing and communications for decades,” explains Michele Arnese, global CEO of Amp. “Gathering and compiling these assets and associated data was always a tedious process that required multiple steps and liaising between agencies. We set out to solve this problem with the creation of our Sonic Hub Tool Ecosystem. Brands will now have the capability to research and compare their sound, test and plan across markets, and manage and expand upon their sonic productions.”
