CANADA: GlobalFest in Calgary, the 16th Annual Strangers in the Night Gala, the Scarborough Ribfest, and More

GLOBAL: Glenmorangie Highland Whiskey has revealed vibrant new packaging across its core flavors, including the Original, La Santa, and Quinta Ruban. The new look boasts a refurbished bottle design and brightly colored packaging that varies between each whiskey, plus details about the product. For example, Glenmorangie's Original offering is now wrapped in orange to nod to the whiskey's orange and peach flavors. The La Santa features red packaging to highlight the sunset-like taste of this flavor, and the Quinta Ruban is wrapped in green to reflect the whiskey's velvety depths. 

CALGARY: GlobalFest Calgary, an annual celebration of Calgary’s multicultural communities organized by The Calgary Fireworks Festival Society, is slated for Aug. 18-27. GlobalFest will take over Elliston Park and consist of both the OneWorld Festival and the International Fireworks Festival. The pyrotechnic teams presenting at the International Fireworks Festival will be as follows: India on Aug. 18, Austria on Aug. 20, France on Aug. 23, Germany on Aug. 25, and a finale on Aug. 27. Guests can expect cultural pavilions and two performance stages for live entertainment, plus food booths and trucks serving up various food and beverages. Tickets start at $21 and can be purchased online.

MONTREAL: The 16th annual Strangers in the Night, a gourmet charity gala, will be held on Aug. 20 at Complexe Pointe-Claire. This year’s gala will benefit The West Island Friends for Mental Health, The West Island Women’s Shelter, and Cure SMA. The Jacksons, formerly known as The Jackson 5, will headline the gala, and Canadian rock band Honeymoon Suite will also perform. Tickets can be purchased online beginning at $60 for general admission. Food trucks will be available for those with general admission tickets. For VIP ticket holders, more than 50 restaurants will serve up food and drink under a tented area.

POOL NO WATER—written by British playwright Mark Ravenhill, presented by Persephone Productions, and directed by Leila Ghaemi and Rebecca Gibian—will be held at The Segal Centre Studio Sept. 1-15. The cast features a group of diverse, emerging local Montreal artists including Lucas DiTecco, Audrey-Shana Ferus, Thomas Vallieres, David Noel, Rosemarie Sabor, and Dakota Jamal Wellman. The play is a dark, comedic, one-act performance that focuses on the true nature of artistic creation and what it means to achieve success in the modern world. 

TORONTO: The Scarborough Ribfest will be held in Thomson Memorial Park July 29-Aug. 1. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy ribs alongside hot dogs, french fries, corn on the cob, and more. Also on-site: a selection of beers, live band performances, and carnival rides. All ages are welcome, and admission to the event is free.
