CANADA: Sonesta Hotels' New Campaign, goHappy Expands Into Canada, Festival d’opéra de Québec, and More

GLOBAL: Sonesta International Hotels announced the launch of its new ad campaign, “Whisper.” The multiphase brand campaign serves to drive awareness and name recognition, and to reframe the brand to meet the needs of all travelers. With creative concepting led by RO New York, the campaign is rooted in the idea that “the softer you speak, the closer people listen.” To enact this, Sonesta’s name is being whispered by influencers in various executions to highlight Sonesta as the best-kept secret in hospitality. 

NATIONAL: Leap Event Technology announced its acquisition of Epic Photo Ops, the software for scheduling, execution, and management of high-quality face-to-face experiences for celebrities and fans. Its experiential e-commerce platform enables event organizers to create, manage, and facilitate once-in-a-lifetime experiences within their events from one centralized vendor. The Calgary-founded company aims to move hundreds of attendees through a photo station in minutes to eliminate the need for fans to line up hours in advance to meet their favorite creators and celebrities.

GoHappy, a provider of frontline engagement solutions in the U.S., announced its expansion into Canada. GoHappy is committed to fostering more engaged and connected frontline workers and plans to transform the employee experience for organizations across Canada by addressing each organization’s evolving needs. With experience in many industries like restaurants, hospitality, senior living, retail, health care, and more, goHappy’s goal is to help companies better communicate with their frontline and get actionable feedback from them.

CAVENDISH, PEI: The inaugural 2023 Sommo Festival presented by Bell took place in Cavendish Beach July 14-15. It was a celebration of friends, family, local food and beverage, and music with over 30 musical performances. Performers included Mumford & Sons, Maggie Rogers, Vance Joy, Lord Huron, and more. There were also culinary experiences from Gail Simmons, Matt Moore, and more.

QUEBEC: The Festival d’opéra de Québec, Quebec’s opera festival, will take place July 23 to Aug. 2. Continuing its mission to promote opera in French, the lineup includes La Fille sans régiment, Roméo et Juliette, and Messe solennelle pour une pleine lune d’été. Free of charge and accessible to all, there will also be a variety of outdoor activities to enjoy.
