Giant Gumball Machine Dispenses Cupcakes for Events

Baked by Melissa has introduced a giant gumball machine that dispenses the company’s signature bite-size cupcakes. Unveiled at the Betsey Johnson show and party at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, the machine is available for event rental in New York.

The machine, which stands more than six feet tall, can fit as many as 2,000 mini cupcake pods, with a minimum order of 1,000 cupcakes. The plastic pods, which handily hold the treats in place to avoid smeared icing, can be filled with any of Baked by Melissa’s standard flavors, like chocolate chip pancake, cookie dough, and peanut butter cup. For an additional fee, clients can create their own custom flavor. The company can also provide an iPad and iPad stand, which can be used to display a digital menu of the flavors provided in the machine, event details, a logo, or photos; printed custom menus are also available for no additional charge.

With standard variety flavors, the cupcake pod machine rents for $4,200 for 1,000 cupcakes and $5,000 for 2,000. Custom cupcake flavors cost $4,300 for 1,000 and $5,200 for 2,000. The rental fee includes pickup and delivery within the five boroughs, an iPad stand, a recycling bin for the pods, tokens, and one Baked by Melissa staffer for the duration of the event.
