Talking mannequins told guests all about rugs at the the Interior Design Show. Held at Metro Toronto Convention Centre January 23 to 26, the show had an unusual display from first-time exhibitor Korhani Home. Specializing in home goods that change seasonally—just like wardrobes— the company has hosted fashion-inspired promotions during events such as MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto. The sartorial theme continued at the Interior Design Show, where planners dressed mannequins in elaborate dresses made of rugs and grouped the statues into vignettes that had themes such as "Versailles" and "1950s Havana" (the themes corresponded to different rug collections).
Using video projection and surface-mapping technology, organizers placed moving faces onto the mannequins, who spoke in character to guide guests through each vignette. As a special touch, one of the mannequins bore the face of Korhani's creative director, Kristen Korhani, and the figure said a quick thank-you to guests for visiting the activation.
