About Events with The Palace International
A family owned, neighborhood restaurant.
The Palace International was started by Maurice and Caren Ochola. The two natives of Kenya came to the United States to attend universities where they met through a mutual friend. They settled in Durham, NC to start a family and eventually The Palace in 1989.
The Palace became a big part of Durham lore through the 1990s not only offering renowned African cuisine but more notably offering a meeting ground for diverse communities and a world beat music scene.
