David Adler, C.E.O. and founder of BizBash (bizbash.com) is a veteran media, marketing, and event industry entrepreneur. He founded BizBash in 2000, overseeing its growth as the largest B2B media company for the event industry with over 2.5 million user sessions annually.
Previously, Adler served as vice president of corporate communications for media companies Macmillan, Inc. and Primedia. He was founder and C.E.O. of the society magazine Washington Dossier and vice president of media relations and cause marketing for the public relations firm Cone Communications.
Adler has held numerous leadership roles including with the U.S. State Department as a consultant where he leads initiatives with the chief of protocol including the Patrons of Diplomacy, the first Global Chiefs of Protocol Conference, and the Diplomatic Culinary Partnerships’ American Chef Corp. After the 9/11 tragedy, he became the co-chair of CEME, (Convention, Exhibition, Meeting, and Events Initiative), created to help rebuild the event industry in the New York.
At Cone Communications he was involved in programs such as the initial Avon Breast Cancer Initiative, the Reebok Human Rights Awards, the Polaroid Missing Children Program, and the John F. Kennedy Library Profile in Courage Award.
Adler resides in New York City and is active in several nonprofit and professional organizations including SISO (Society of Independent Show Organizers), the Fine Arts Committee of the State Department of the United States, the Hudson Square Business Improvement District, and the Open Future Institute.
BizBash President Richard Aaron has been honored by numerous organizations as one of the most respected event professionals in the country. He served as founding chairman of the SEARCH Foundation and founding president of the International Special Events Society of New York as well as on board of directors of MPI International. Currently he serves as a trustee of the MPI Foundation and serves on the Convention Industry Council Apex Board. In 2002, Aaron was named MPI International Planner of the Year for his outstanding body of work in the meeting profession.
Before joining BizBash, Aaron was president of the meeting and events division of Mallory Factor Inc., where he produced thousands of innovative events nationwide for Fortune 100 corporations and associations with clients including Sony, IBM, Sun, GE, Dell Computers, and Siemens.
Aaron is an adjunct professor in event marketing at New York University's Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality and Tourism and Sports Marketing, where he teaches both graduate and undergraduate classes in event management. He currently serves as the founding president of the New York Center for Events and Hospitality. Aaron holds a master’s degree in fine arts from Brandeis University.
Nicole Peck is the executive vice president of BizBash Media where she oversees the events, marketing, product development, technology, and client services teams. With more than 20 years in the industry, she has led event and marketing departments of respected media and technology companies and has devised growth strategies and tactics for trade shows, conferences, and live and traditional media. She is known for her passion and ability to bring break down concepts and reconstruct ideas to fashion results and is often sought out for collaboration among internal and external team members and vendors.
She stands firmly behind the belief that the personal handshake is irreplaceable and takes tremendous pride in helping facilitate authentic and meaningful connections. Peck graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts for both English and Communication from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
Beth Kormanik is executive editor of BizBash. She joined BizBash in 2012 as a senior editor and has led such projects as the Top 100 Events in the United States as well as coverage of events including the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, Art Basel Miami Beach, and the South Beach Wine & Food Festival. Along with BizBash C.E.O. David Adler, she is co-host of the podcast GatherGeeks. Kormanik has written for The New York Times and was a staff reporter at the Florida Times-Union and Milwaukee Journal Sentinel newspapers where she covered politics, education, and local news. She also served as managing editor of the hospitality trade publication Hotel Interactive. Kormanik is a graduate of Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and resides in Brooklyn.
Passionate about digital marketing, social media, and events, Grazia Mohren brings more than 12 years of experience in marketing and public relations to her role as vice president of marketing for BizBash. Mohren’s primary focus at BizBash is to grow the brand through audience development efforts, event marketing initiatives, lead generation, and thought leadership. Prior to joining BizBash in 2012, she spearheaded campaigns for hundreds of events including Oscar and Golden Globe parties, film festivals, Fashion Week shows, magazine launches, restaurant openings, and trade shows. Away from work, she is a mother of one, an avid traveler, and holds an M.B.A. from Montclair State University.
David is a champion of advertising, commerce, and sales operations, evangelizing the power of digital media and event platforms to help businesses gain customers. His experience in growing local markets and local teams for national media and commerce brands including Cars.com, DotMenu (acquired by Grubhub), Supermedia, and Tribune provided for a perfect segue to lead the BizBash sales team, with reps in six major markets. Ask him what he loves most about his time here, and he will tell you it's BizBash's ability to create positions of thought leadership while providing measurable new business generation for clients. But most of all, it's BizBash's unparalleled brand equity with its audience and advertisers.
Rebecca Pappas is vice president of production and client services. She joined the BizBash team in September of 2010, bringing with her more than 20 years experience in shaping production protocols, audience growth, and consistent in client satisfaction. At BizBash, she is responsible for all aspects of production practice and policies as well as ensuring excellent client, interdepartmental relationships, and operational analytics.
Before joining BizBash, she was the director of publisher relations at Qmags, a provider of digital edition solutions, where she managed the production, distribution, and marketing strategies of the digital editions for more than 50 B2B publishers. For six years, she was the director of circulation and manufacturing for BZ Media, a multi-title publisher in the IT space, pioneering digital edition creation and distribution. She worked with BPAWW’s Digital Task Force to formulate audit rules and requirements that still stand today. Pappas spent the first decade of her career at International Typeface Corporation developing revenue streams based on Upper & Lower Case Magazine’s paid circulation and list rental programs, and overseeing its transition from analog to digital production.
A composer by training, Matt Lima graduated summa cum laude from Harvard before attending the Royal Academy of Music (London) on a Marshall scholarship. He returned to the U.S. after almost a decade in London and Paris to begin a new career with roots in his longstanding programming hobby. Lima has overseen technology and development at BizBash since 2010 and is still learning the Goldberg Variations.
