Midtown eatery Brasserie Cognac serves a number of dishes prepared with the famous variety of brandy after which the restaurant takes its name, and also provides pairings of the spirit with its culinary offerings. Now the restaurant organizes group activities as part of its Cognac School, in which participants cover central topics like the history, tradition, production, food pairing, and versatility of the well-known French grape-derived brandy. Tastings include artisanally crafted cognacs and lesser-known vintages and address the use of the spirit in cocktails and cooking sauces. The cost is $49 per person and includes several tastings of cognac, as well as small bites of cheese puff, croque monsieur, and tomato tart. Groups of 12 to 40 may partake in the activities, which typically last about 90 minutes.
