The event's focal installation was a three-story DJ tower that housed five DJs in cubes playing hip-hop, electronic, Top 40, rock, and throwback. Built with scaffolding, the tower featured shifting light, music, and video styles and allowed DJs to play solo sets, participate in music battles, and combine genres. Four of the squares projected video that showed social feeds, DJ information, and live shots of the DJs performing.

The setting was the star of Spike Jonze and Jonah Hill’s 100% Lost Cotton Fashion Week play that doubled as Opening Ceremony’s spring show on September 7. Held at the iconic Metropolitan Opera House, the location wasn’t immediately clear from the address on the invitation: 109 Amsterdam Avenue turned out to be a loading dock, which guests were ushered through before finding their seats behind the curtain. The rare perspective for guests, facing the venue’s plush red seats and famous chandeliers, allowed them to watch the cast, which consisted of the likes of Karlie Kloss, John Cameron Mitchell, Bobby Cannavale, Catherine Keener, Rashida Jones, and Elle Fanning.

If there’s a large-scale venue in Manhattan, chances are Moncler has used it. For its February 8 Moncler Grenoble presentation, the high-fashion Italian skiwear brand took over the Hammerstein Ballroom to stage a Villa Eugenie-produced extravaganza. The event boasted 10 opera singers from the Pendulum Choir on oscillating pendulums that swayed as they sang in front of a stack of 60 illuminated boxes, each containing a model wearing an outfit from the fall collection. The nearly half-hour performance had a mandate to start on time in order to allow editors to make the dash across the East River to catch the Alexander Wang show.

The logo of ESPN the Party, which illuminated the floor near the entrance, included a playful take on the New York subway system with 'NYC' mimicking the colors and shapes used to identify the train's different lines. Maxim also used subway imagery on the custom T-shirts worn by staffers.
