Traditional Home magazine put together a designer showhouse called Built for Women as a benefit for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Interior designers including Mario Buatta, Thad Hayes and Gary McBournie designed rooms in the house based on notable women including Evelyn Lauder, Elizabeth Taylor and Barbara Walters.
The night before the showhouse (at 18 East 80th St.) opened for viewings, the magazine and the foundation held a reception a few blocks away at the Ukrainian Institute. After touring the house, guests walked to the center, which was bathed in bright pink lights by Frost Lighting.
