The palatial estate El Palacio in Arcadia became available for private parties in October. The 1.3-acre property features a historic 10,000-square-foot mansion that has hosted high-profile overnight guests including Oprah Winfrey to former President George H.W. Bush. The home is adorned with luxurious features including intricate architectural details, artwork by Sandro Botticelli, a mosaic tile pool, and a loft library overlooking the formal living room. In total, the property accommodates as many as 500 guests for cocktail-style receptions. With five bedrooms, El Palacio is also well suited for corporate retreats and off-site teambuilding workshops.

HBO's buzzy new series Watchmen, based on the popular comic of the same name, held its premiere party on October 14 at the Sunset Room in Hollywood. HBO's Anna Wiley worked with Billy Butchkavitz on the design, which featured winks and nods to the show such as a 12-foot 'flying Owlship' photo booth and portraits of President Robert Redford. Images by Lighting handled lighting, while Agile Eye Solutions handled large-scale decor elements.

In August, Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center debuted on the top 12 floors of the Comcast Innovation and Technology Center, the city’s tallest building. The high-end hotel brings a new level of luxury to Center City, with amenities like a full-service spa, a 24-hour fitness center with a floor-to-ceiling media wall, and an indoor infinity-edge pool with sweeping views of the city and beyond. Each of the 219 guest rooms, including 39 suites, features bespoke furniture and next-generation Comcast internet and entertainment technology. Two master chefs helm on-site dining outposts: Greg Vernick’s Vernick Fish occupies part of the building’s ground level, and the 40-seat Vernick Coffee Bar offers light bites and grab-and-go options; Jean-George Vongerichten’s stunning Jean Georges restaurant dazzles guests with five-star cuisine on the 59th floor, while the adjoining JG SkyHigh serves more casual dishes in a sleek, chic atmosphere. The hotel offers more than 15,602 square feet of meeting space that can accommodate as many as 1,000 total guests, including the 4,554-square-foot Grand Terrace Ballroom, the 2,364-square-foot Arch Ballroom, and the 600-square-foot Executive Boardroom. All event spaces feature natural light and can be adorned with florals and decor by celebrity florist and in-house artistic director Jeff Leatham.

Candy artist Robyn Blair Davidson, who’s known as @byrobynblair on Instagram, created a life-size version of her Dubble Bubble gum installation for a photo op at Showfields in New York. The display also includes other works by Davidson that celebrate famous candy brands. The works are on display through November 13.

Opening in December is the first U.S. edition of Dumpling & Associates, a 90-day pop-up experience by artist collective ZJZM. The 5,500-square-foot, 14-room art exhibition will feature 'dumpling-theme installations that merge tradition, culture, design, optimism, and inclusivity,' according to press materials. It opens on December 3 at Row DTLA; early bird tickets are now on sale for $25.

Tribute Portfolio, Marriott International’s collection of independent hotels, debuted the “Pantone Pantry by Tribute Portfolio” at Art Basel in Miami in 2018. The travel-inspired installation highlighted “Living Coral,” the 2019 Pantone Color of the Year, and marked the first time the announcement included an experiential reveal. The Miami installation was created by interior designer Athena Calderone, pop-art illustrator Gabriel Alcala, and Supergroup LSD, which created projection artwork for the activation.
