Unlikely Entertainment

Planners for the Starlight Foundation's fund-raiser last night turned to the fashion industry for entertainment.

Miss Caribbean 2008 Marlyn Sanchez and other long-legged femmes served as the evening's entertainment as they conducted a high-fashion photo shoot with Hector Rodriguez.
Miss Caribbean 2008 Marlyn Sanchez and other long-legged femmes served as the evening's entertainment as they conducted a high-fashion photo shoot with Hector Rodriguez.

Tapping into an unconventional resource, Don Schneider, director of marketing and hospitality for the Chateau de la Mer, contacted Posche Models about conducting a photo shoot at the Fort Lauderdale mansion during the Starlight Children's Foundation's St. Barts Oasis event yesterday.

Throughout the day, guests meandered about the chateau taking part in the Starlight Salon while enjoying small bites from The Chef's Table. The available treatments included facials, massages, mani/pedis, and makeup applications, courtesy of several spas and individual technicians such as Serenity Aveda Day Spa and Contour Day Spa.

As the sun set and rain poured in, guests moved indoors for the Evening in St. Barts cocktail party featuring the tongue-wagging, high-fashion photo shoot. Guests paused and took notice as models sporting St. Barts-appropriate resort wear descended the winding staircase, lights were set up, and hair was fluffed. Those in attendance couldn't help but stare as Miss Carribbean 2008 Marlyn Sanchez and other long-legged femmes posed for renowned photographer Hector Rodriguez.

"By showcasing a high-fashion editorial photo shoot during the event, we were able to create an atmosphere of ultramodern glitz and glam that was in line with the night's theme," said Schneider.

Throughout the evening, chef Howard Hurst of Catering Concepts served caper citrus butter sautéed escargots, lump crab cakes with mango chutney mustard sauce, red pepper "rouille" on shrimp toast, and more.

Sponsors for the event included the Chef's Table, Lifestyles magazine, Blue Martini, Aveda, and Body Details. The total amount of money raised was not available at press time.
