Natural Selection, a new Los Angeles-based film production company headed by C.E.O. Matty Beckerman and backed by Al-Saadi Qaddafi (the son of Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi), held a cocktail party for 200 industry insiders at Panorama Lounge Monday that included a performance by rapper 50 Cent. Jeffry Roick of McNabb Roick Events handled the decor for the TIFF party and Westbury National Show Systems handled the staging, which featured a translucent backdrop with the Natural Selection logo.
The menu for the reception, created by Eatertainment Special Events and Catering, included hors d'oeuvres like whiskey-cured salmon croque monsieur, sesame-seared duck breast served in a sesame-chive pancake, crispy mushroom ravioli in parmesan with caponata sauce, and Beluga caviar presented in an ice block and accompanied with blini and buttered toast, shredded egg whites and yolk, crème fraiche, chives, parsley, and shallots.
