A Tavola, an eclectic Italian restaurant specializing in piattini (or small plates), opened in November and is gaining buzz for its innovative fare, including duck smoked table-side in a glass cloche. Located in downtown Winchester, the restaurant is the latest endeavor from the team behind Bistro 5 and is available for buyouts.
The restaurant seats 50 or holds 65 for cocktails in the main dining room, which is decorated with long tables, wagon wheels hanging from rustic wood walls, mirrors, and a dark crimson palette. Screens and projectors are available for a rental fee and can be coordinated with restaurant staff.
A Tavola means “at the table” in Italian, and an emphasis is placed on farm-to-table freshness with selections designed for groups. Signature catering menu items include handmade pastas, rigatoni Bolognese, eggplant melanzene, bombolini (house-made doughnuts), and whole roasted pig. Breads are also made on the premises, and many artisan cheeses, charcuterie, and vegetables for antipasti platters are provided by local farmers. An all-Italian wine program offers glass-and-a-half portions, apportioned for easy sharing.
