A new steak house came to Chicago when Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar opened in River North in April. The restaurant chain, which got its start in Newport Beach, California, in 1998, showcases classic steak-house fare, such as various cuts of meats, as well as seafood, appetizers, salads, and desserts. Fleming's also offers 100 wines by the glass, flight, and bottle, and the restaurant will pair wines with specific dishes. The Chicago location features a clubby atmosphere, with dark woods and warm tones highlighted by paintings by Thomas Arvid, an artist known for his wine-inspired work. The 14,000-square-foot venue, which seats about 350 guests, has an exhibition kitchen, an expansive bar area, and a roomy two-story design with two private dining rooms. The State Room can accommodate as many as 66 guests, while the Michigan Room seats as many as 50. Both spaces can be divided into two smaller rooms that seat between 16 and 24 guests. A second-floor bar can also hold 150 for a cocktail reception. The entire restaurant is available for full buyouts for seated events of 350 and cocktail receptions of 500, as well.
Set three-course lunch and four-course dinner menus are available for private parties, and menus can be customized—from full meals to wine tastings with hors d'oeuvres.
