Westfield World Trade Center in New York celebrated its grand opening August 16 with a daylong event that included live entertainment in the property’s light-filled centerpiece, known as the Oculus. Performers at the event—which was produced by Westfield Corporation with assistance from KCD Worldwide—included John Legend, Tony-winning former Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr., The Voice Season 9 winner Jordan Smith, the Harlem Gospel Choir, violinist Dr. Draw, and cast members from the Broadway musical School of Rock.

Designed by noted Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava, the bright white, skeletal structure has more than 365,000 square feet of space that houses more than 100 brands in the retail and food industries, including Apple, Sephora, Eataly, and Disney. The shopping center also has street-level space in World Trade Center Towers 3 and 4, as well as the galleries that run underground across the World Trade Center campus, including the 1,776-foot-tall One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. In addition, the venue provides connections to several trains and ferries to and from Manhattan, Brooklyn, and New Jersey.
