La Venta Inn, a refurbished 1920s Spanish villa above the Palos Verdes peninsula, was a frequent weekend retreat for Cary Grant and Charles Lindberg, among others, in the 1930s. It’s known for its white-stone facade, brick walkways, and picturesque fountains.

Built in 1876, the Mission Inn Hotel and Spa was once a hideaway for screen stars like Bogey and Bacall. The Spanish Wing was added in 1913, including the flower-lined patio reminiscent of Spanish castle courtyards.

The historic two-story San Diego Museum of Art, a Spanish Colonial-style building central to Balboa Park, opened in 1926. The rotunda features a handcrafted fountain of Cicenza sandstone, high archways, and grand staircases.

The Mission San Juan Capistrano was founded in 1776 and has 10 acres of lush gardens, koi-filled fountains, original adobe buildings, museum rooms, and the Great Stone Church.
