As the public outreach center for the renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego, Birch Aquarium allows guests to dive deeper into cutting-edge research geared towards protecting and understanding the planet, while offering breathtaking sunsets, one-on-one animal encounters and the benefit of supporting a good cause.
An Impressive Portfolio
From an intimate dinner in the Giant Kelp Forest to a lively celebration on the outdoor Tide Pool Plaza, the aquarium offers a unique and flexible venue that will stretch the limits of an event professional's imagination. With an impressive portfolio of indoor and outdoor spaces, the 30,000-square-foot aquarium can accommodate up to 1,500 guests.
New this summer is Blue Beach, a 6,000-square-foot plaza designed as a place for people to connect with the ocean and each other. Blue Beach features a gorgeous view as well as a 4,500-square-foot floor mural of the underwater canyons off La Jolla Shores in a vibrant and colorful display for an event backdrop like no other.
Evening events include exclusive use of the entire facility, so guests are able to explore ocean habitats and get hands-on with groundbreaking science while enjoying exquisite farm-to-table and locally-sourced food from one of the venue's exclusive caterers.
Getting Hands-On
Event guests have the opportunity to explore interactive exhibits and come face to face with exciting creatures including a rescued Loggerhead Sea Turtle, a Giant Pacific Octopus, Moon Jellies, and Moray Eels.
