Time Style & Design hosted three galas during the opening week of the Toronto International Film Festival. Joanna Lee, a creative consultant at Time Style & Design, collaborated with TAS DesignBuild principal Mazyar Mortazavi to plan and execute the events. Time Style & Design associate publisher Kris Menon said the magazine’s goal was to create parties that reeked of “glamour, glamour, and more glamour.” It’s all about dazzling the Hollywood royalty, he explained. Here’s a brief glimpse at what went down at each of the events.
September 7 saw the after-party for Michael Clayton take over the Trading Floor at The Design Exchange. Lee and Mortazavi used a modern design motif and aspects of nature to imbue the space with a sense of humanity’s potential for redemption, reflecting a thematic undercurrent of the film. Furnishings by Corey provided modern, classic furniture, Quince Flowers supplied planters of flowers, and Waves Design Group installed a waterfall wall. Other decor elements included sleek black and silver accents from TAS DesignBuild, lush tropical plants and palms interspersed with red and burgundy dahlias from Stemz and eye-catching ice sculptures from IceFX. George Clooney, the star of Michael Clayton, attended the event, along with a host of other celebrities such as Clive Owen, Jake Gyllenhaal, Reese Witherspoon, and Don Cheadle.Three nights later, Time Style & Design revved up its party machine once more to throw a classic Hollywood-themed gala in honour of Trumbo, a film celebrating the life of renowned American screenwriter Dalton Trumbo. The elaborate affair, held at the Fermenting Cellar in the Distillery District, featured sheer white silk fabrics from Micki’s, large crystal chandeliers from Union Lighting, waterfall walls from Waves Design Group, and arrangements of white flowers from Stemz and Quince Flowers. As well, IceFX supplied ice sculptures displaying the Time Style & Design logo and the logos of sponsors such as Birks, Audi, and Fiji Water. Celebrity guests included Jessica Alba, Chantal Kreviazuk, Tom Cochrane, Tricia Helfer, Leelee Sobieski, and cast member Donald Sutherland.
Time Style & Design’s final event, held September 12 at the Boiler House in the Distillery District, was the after-party for Walk All Over Me. Cast members Leelee Sobieski and Tricia Helfer attended as did Hollywood veteran Danny Glover. Decor highlights included waterfalls from Waves Design Group, planters from Quince Flowers, and accent lighting by Westbury National Show Systems. Presidential Gourmet, which catered all three galas, mixed cocktails such as vodka shaken with apple juice and an Amarula-based concoction with dark chocolate garnishes. For dinner, Presidential set up three competing food stations, serving roasted New York strip loin, roasted rack of lamb rubbed with fresh rosemary, and forest mushroom risotto with fine herbs.
