The LG Innovators' Ball, held Thursday at the Ontario Science Centreโwhich we covered hereโwrapped up with an after-party for more than 1,200 guests. Following a meal prepared by renowned chef Susur Lee, 450 dinner guests joined 800 party guests in the Westin Family Innovation Centre for an espionage-themed party that lasted into the wee hours of the morning.
To create a sense of connection for guests in the three party rooms, organizers used โspy camsโ to film and broadcast what was happening in each space, said Matt Wiesenfeld, director of annual giving and a member of the event planning team. โThe Science Centre is an interesting venue that most people donโt come to unless theyโve got young kids. People are very interested and awestruck to see what we can do,โ he said. โItโs a massive spaceโฆwe have events here all the time, but nobody uses all the different spaces we use.โ
The venue remained open to the public until 5 p.m. Thursday, a factor that added โa level of complexityโ to the planning process, Wiesenfeld said. โItโs a logistical challenge but on weโre getting better at.โ The technical and lighting installation began on Tuesday, and deliveries arrived on site throughout the week. โCome 5 p.m. itโs a hive of activity,โ he said.
