This one is hard to explain, but really cool: Effects company Absolute Hollywood has created something called the StratoSphere, a giant translucent globe (50 feet in diameter) that can be used to display video projections and lighting effects to people both inside and outside of the structure. We first spotted the trippy thing at the Lighting Dimensions show in Las Vegas last month, and Yahoo used it for an event in Montreal last week. Based in Cypress, Texas, Absolute Hollywood's prices for the StratoSphere start at $20,000.
