London-based architectural projection company the Projection Studio mapped video artwork featuring 32 animated mosaic portraits of Queen Elizabeth II onto the front of Buckingham Palace on Friday and Saturday. Part of the "Face Britain" project created by the Prince Charles' Foundation for Children and the Arts, the event marked the first time that video projections have ever been used on the front of the palace. The project is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most artists working on the same installation; the portraits in the projected video montage comprised 200,000 self-portraits by children age 4 to 16. Covering the entire facade of the palace, the queen herself approved all stages of the creative process. U.K. video-rental specialists Creative Technology provided the 24 video projectors, which were hidden behind the pillars of the palace's front wall.
