In May, 3rd Ward—a vast, independently owned art workshop and studio facility—opened in East Williamsburg, providing production, rehearsal, fabrication, and studio space and equipment for performance, musical, visual, and digital media artists. The venue also rents out some spaces for events and meetings, including an 840-square-foot photo studio suitable for small meetings and lectures, and a gallery with polished concrete floors, exposed brick walls, and 12,000 square feet of space. More recently, 3rd Ward opened up a 10,000-square-foot raw space on its third floor. An outdoor garden, furnished with pieces crafted by in-house artists, is also available. —Anna Sekula
