Hip-hop gets its due with the new exhibition “Recognize! Hip Hop and Contemporary Portraiture” that the National Portrait Gallery opened last Friday. The show pulls together David Scheinbaum’s energetic concert photos of Public Enemy and De La Soul, as well as Kehinde Wiley’s portraits of LL Cool J and Ice-T, which mimic 17th- and 19th-century masterpieces. Check out the graffiti murals and poems transcribed on walls that connect the galleries. The show runs through October 26.
