It was as if King Midas himself were present in the Metro Toronto Convention Centre (MTCC) for the trade show and cocktail party that followed the annual general meeting of gold mining company Goldcorp Inc. Event Fusion produced and designed the post-meeting event, putting a golden twist on the traditional format.
Inside the trade show and reception space, models in flamboyant gold pixie costumes flitted about, offering guests ornamental gold coins. Air Magic placed a portable fountain in the centre of the room, uplit in gold and decorated with shimmering gold foliage—a fun area for the frolicking fairies. The centre of the ceiling was treated with billowing fabric suspended above a riser decorated with gold-painted foliage. On the riser, a musician played ambient music on a golden harp. Surrounding the area, about 20 gold industry companies offered table displays with products and information for guests, including company shareholders and outside members of Canada's gold mining industry.
Models in tree costumes with golden leaves and long branches swayed to the sounds of the harp, and tables in the cocktail area displayed decorative golden insects. Passed hors d'oeuvres from the MTCC included mini mushroom quiches and sun-dried tomato phyllo appetizers.
