Landmark Theatres to Show L.A. Opera Gala Concert

The benefit concert that preceded last weekend's Los Angeles Opera gala is now moving to movie theaters, with the Landmark Theatres chain hosting screenings of the "Plácido Domingo 40th Anniversary Gala Concert" in 22 U.S. theaters on May 11. The concert celebrates the 40th anniversary of Domingo's first professional appearance in L.A. and features arias and duets sung by Domingo and soprano Patricia Racette. Cities showing the movie will include Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, San Diego, Chicago, Seattle, Houston, Boston, Philadelphia, St. Louis, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C.

One quick tip: Ask a stadium/arena's private events team about outdoor rentals. Shuck Cancer New Orleans did just that for its event at the Caesars Superdome.

Booking.com and Warner Bros. Pictures have teamed up to celebrate the holidays and the debut of Wonka by offering two limited-time stays at Wonka’s Sweet Suites at Park Lane New York (pictured) and Viceroy Santa Monica. The suites, inspired by the film, are each equipped with life-size props and chocolate confections, plus a bed topped with 'marshmallows' set amid cotton candy clouds; each booking also comes with tickets to see Wonka in theaters. Wonka’s Sweet Suites were available to book on a first-come, first-served basis for stays from Dec. 15-16, and are priced at $12.15 (the date the film is released). The summer of Barbie isn’t quite over yet (check out the movie on streaming services this week!), and Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth in Montreal is keeping the fun going with its new Barbie Dream Suite, available for bookings until the end of September. In partnership with Mattel, the pretty-in-pink experience features two spacious bedrooms, a kitchen, and two bathrooms, all adorned with playful design touches like original Barbie artwork, custom-designed pink glassware, a record player with the Barbie movie vinyl, themed books, vintage dolls, and more. The hotel is also offering on-theme baked goods and cocktails, and a Barbie Afternoon Tea on Saturdays.
