1. HOLY SCALPING, BATMAN! Warner Brothers Pictures isn't the only one hoping to cash in on the excitement surrounding the release of The Dark Knight Rises. Wall Street Journal: "Scalpers, who normally stick to sports and concerts, are cashing in. Tickets for the first screenings of the film are being re-sold by brokers and others on website such as Craigslist and Ebay Inc.'s StubHub, where sellers are asking as much as $100 apiece for tickets to IMAX showings." http://on.wsj.com/Q7Yjx9
2. SOCIAL OLYMPICS: Just as Olympics fans and athletes are expected to engage on social networks in record numbers, the International Olympic Committee is upping its game as well. It announcing several features to boost its social presence from Twitter and Facebook to Tumblr and Foursquare. Mashable: "Also heading fans’ way is a project called Faces of Olympians, a collaboration between Instagram and the IOC. Photos of athletes’ game faces will be snapped throughout the Olympics from the Athletes’ Village. 3. EMMY SUB: Travel delays from stormy weather on the East Coast kept actor Nick Offerman from announcing this morning's Primetime Emmy Nominations along with Kerry Washington and Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Chairman, Bruce Rosenblum. Jimmy Kimmel replaced him.
4. DISNEY ACCESS: A court ruled that Disneyland must study whether guests can use Segways after a woman sued the theme park for denying her use of one despite a disability that hampers her movement. "'As new devices become available, public accommodations must consider using or adapting them to help disabled guests have an experience more akin to that of non-disabled,' Chief Judge Alex Kozinski wrote for the court. Disney must show, based on actual risks, why Segways would be unsafe in the park, the panel said." http://lat.ms/NZp7gw

COAST TO COAST: The Event Planners Association announced new chapters in Miami, Cleveland, and Denver, each with several inaugural events including intensive educational and networking sessions. Launch dates are set for: Miami, July 30, at Blue Martini and Hotel Urbano; Cleveland, August 1, at Wine Grotto Bar; and Denver, August 2, at Space Gallery & Artwork Network.
BOSTON: Area Four, which hosts private events, is hosting lawn games this summer including bocce, croquet, lawn darts, and Frisbee. Other summery tropes include a soft-serve cart and country club-inspired cocktails like G&Ts.
Atlas Travel hosts its "Opening Night in Boston" V.I.P. cocktail party at the Citi Wang Theatre Monday, as part of the Global Business Travel Association national convention.
CHICAGO: Jenny McCarthy will host the Ciroc Cabana Club at EnV Chicago Saturday, with bites from Hell's Kitchen star Brian Merelin, DJs spinning in a lifeguard station, and digital frames that can be uploaded to social media sites with the hashtag #CirocCabanaClub.
The Air & Water Show is August 18-19 and will feature stunts from the U.S. Navy Blue Seals, the U.S. Army Parachute Team Golden Knights, and the U.S. Navy Leap Frogs.
The newly renovated Odyssey, Spirit of Chicago, and Mystic Blue vessels will host Air & Water Show viewing parties this August with buffets and entertainment.
LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas Hospitality Association’s second celebrity chef breakfast is July 26 and will feature Border Grill's Mary Sue Milliken at the restaurant's Vegas outpost.
LOS ANGELES: This summer Thompson Beverly Hills started a rooftop summer film festival. The Hollywood Reporter and the Motion Picture & Television Fund are presenting 12 weeks of films from Blockbuster thrillers to classic American romantic comedies. A portion of ticket sales will directly benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund.

NEW YORK: SBE Entertainment owner Sam Nazarian announced plans to open an $85 million SLS hotel in New York—the first in the city for the company. TORONTO: The Christie Pits Film Festival kicks off Sunday at Christie Pits Park and continues through August 19.
Scotiabank's all-night event Nuit Blanche is September 29, with more than 140 contemporary art projects throughout the city.
WASHINGTON: Fox Ventures will showcase its event designs through a 24-foot refrigerated truck that will travel through the region July 23-27. The mobile showroom, which will be sectioned into two lounges and a table setting, will be decorated in three distinct styles for weddings, social events, and corporate events. It will stop at locations that will be announced via the company's social networks.
The inaugural Snallygaster beer festival is scheduled for October 13 at The Yards Park. It benefits the Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food and Agriculture.
