Several Chicago chefs figured prominently in the 2008 James Beard award nominations, which the organization announced last week. Among the notable nominees are Grant Achatz of Alinea (for Outstanding Chef), Rich Melman of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises (Restaurateur), Mindy Segal of HotChocolate (Pastry Chef), and Graham Elliot Bowles of Avenues, Carrie Nahabedian of Naha, and Bruce Sherman of North Pond, all for Best Chef, Great Lakes Region.
Other local nominees include Brian Duncan of Bin 36 (for Outstanding Wine Service), Spiaggia (Service), and Tufano's Vernon Park Tap (America's Classics). The awards will be handed out at Lincoln Center in New York on June 8.
