The Chicago Tribune reported on Monday that the original Goose Island Brewpub at 1800 North Clybourn Avenue will close its doors at the end of the year. The Chicago-based company, which has owned and operated the brewpub for more than 20 years, failed to renew its lease due to a rent increase.
Goose Island's Wrigleyville brewpub and Fulton Street manufacturing facility will remain open, and production of Goose Island's roster of beers won't be affected. Parties planned in the brewpub's various event spaces will be accommodated throughout 2008.
