As co-founder of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, local restaurant-industry tycoon Rich Melman brought a slew of popular (and diverse) eateries to the city: The various L.E.Y.E. venues include local favorite burger spot R.J. Grunts and pricey French restaurant Everest. Now, Melman's sons R.J. and Jerrod have plans to open their own River North restaurant, Hub 51, The Chicago Sun-Times reported yesterday.According to the story, R.J. and Jerrod sought their father's advice throughout the yearlong planning process for the opening of Hub 51. But the brothers plan to be in control—sans dad's help—once the restaurant opens in mid-June. Located on the ground floor of the building that houses the new Marriott Residence Inn and SpringHill Suites, Hub 51 (which is not associated with the hotels) will feature a 300-seat bar, decor with an "industrial and warm feel," and an eclectic menu filled with the brothers' favorite eats (they love everything from sushi to Mexican food).
To help spread the word about their new venture and to attract staffers, the brothers released a YouTube video last month, with additional video releases planned for the coming months.
