Susan Swanson started September 2 as the director of development at Arts of Life, a Chicago-based nonprofit that provides artistic outlets for developmentally disabled adults. In her role as director, a new position created to address the organization’s need for funding, Swanson will coordinate corporate sponsorships and community outreach with local businesses and publications, produce special events such as a CD release party and gallery shows, and coordinate fund-raising efforts. She is currently organizing the opening of a new gallery and studio space for the organization, and will plan eight more events before the end of the year.
Swanson has more than 10 years of experience working on events, and previously held marketing positions with Merchandise Mart Properties and Marshall Field's.
