Former Merchandise Mart Planners Provide Event and Gift Services

Stephanie Hilnak and Myca Smith, two former event planners for the Merchandise Mart, opened Event Studio on May 30. The Wicker Park boutique sells a variety of greeting cards, decorative products, and office-appropriate gifts, including books, desk accessories, candles, and soaps. Hilnak and Smith also can provide special-order corporate gift services, sourcing items such as engraved business-card holders or customized mugs. In addition to functioning as a store, the space is also an event planning studio where the owners offer consultations on matters such as venue selection and vendor proposals; the space can also be used to host corporate receptions for as many as 50 guests.
