1.  INAUGURATION PARTY ETIQUETTE: Media and tech companies hosted inauguration events, although the scene at Google's luncheon with Elle at the National Portrait Gallery found host Susan Molinari threatening to shut down the bar if guests did not pay better attention to the speakers. Women's Wear Daily: "Each time a powerful woman showed up, guests were supposed to stop talking, listen up, and take notes on what a girl’s got to do to make it in politics. After a few hours, the drill was beginning to get old." http://wwd.us/144WZjV

2. PRESIDENTIAL SUITES: It was a quirky idea—and generated global buzz—but no one purchased the Madison Hotel’s $47,000 “Inaugural Town and Country Package,” which included a "social media butler" to document your inauguration memories and a $5,000 shopping trip to Brooks Brothers. In fact, many Washington hotels did not sell their high-priced and high-perked packages, but that doesn't mean it was a waste of time putting them together. Politico: "Sold or not, these packages can be marketing gold for these hotels." http://politi.co/Wv8SKK

3. KUTCHER KEYNOTE AT MACWORLD: The tech company's expo next week will feature Ashton Kutcher, who will portray Steve Jobs in the film Jobs. The event is leaning heavily on celebrities this year. Macgasm: "Macworld Expo has also announced that Will.i.am will be speaking later in the day about the future of technology and gadgets. He will be joined by Intel’s futurist Brian David Johnson. Other notable speakers include Fred Armisen of Portlandia and Saturday Night Live as well as John Gruber of the popular tech blog Daring Fireball." http://bit.ly/VMWLdu

4. NATIONAL HACKATHON: More than 30 events are planned across the country for this summer's National Day of Civic Hacking. NBC News: "The idea is to combine a bunch of public government data (census data, congressional records, etc,) with hackers and other techies who want to make something with it. Much of this data is already available, but perhaps not very visible to curious coders." http://nbcnews.to/Wnks9D
