On March 28, the Marriott Residence Inn and SpringHill Suites opened up in the same River North structure. Though the hotels share a roof, they are intended for distinct sets of guests.
"In the SpringHill Suites, it's all about celebrating life on the road and renewing travelers," said Gina Prokopeak, director of sales for the property. "We try to energize guests between their travels. That plays out in everything from the music we play in the lobby to the Marriott brand's new color scheme." (In place of the traditional Marriott palate of kelly green and navy blue, the SpringHill Suites feature bright hues of turquoise and purple.) Each of the SpringHill's 253 suites has a refrigerator and microwave, and a complimentary breakfast buffet is served daily in the lobby. While SpringHill aims to energize, the Residence Inn encourages guests to settle in for long-term stays. Meant to feel like a modern home, the Inn's 270 suites offer a full kitchen outfitted with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances. A complimentary shopping service allows guests to drop off grocery lists at the front desk in the morning and, by evening, have their in-room refrigerators and pantries stocked with the requested goods.
Business travelers staying at either hotel have access to a 24-hour business center, free high-speed wireless Internet, and a 460-square-foot conference room. The hotel staff can also reserve space for private functions in the neighborhood's surrounding restaurants and meeting spaces.
In May or early summer, the 9,500-square-foot Hub 51 (a new contemporary American restaurant affiliated with Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises) will open on the building's ground level. An Einstein's Bros. Bagel shop will open on the same floor.
