The Dana Hotel and Spa, a new $60 million property that is Chicago's only locally owned and operated luxury hotel built from the ground up, opened in River North in June. Featuring 216 guest rooms on 26 floors, the Dana has a sleek, contemporary look with minimalist decor, natural design elements, and technological advances such as cordless phones and Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Sound Systems that sync with MP3 players in each room.The Dana Hotel's meeting space is located on the property's fifth floor. A 1,200-square-foot main room can host as many as 200 guests for a reception or can be divided into two separate areas accommodating 17 to 50 people. A 285-square-foot board room holds 14 people, while two additional conference rooms can each take 10 guests. Pre-function space can host as many as 300 guests for conferences, receptions, and events.
Also onsite is Ajasteak, a modern Asian steak house and sushi bar spread over two levels; it seats 110. The semiprivate Tatami Room seats up to 30 guests and can be found on Ajasteak's second level. A large communal table can accommodate 12 people or can be separated into four smaller surfaces. An outdoor patio, situated along State Street, seats as many as 52 people at umbrella-topped café tables. Ajasteak is available for full buyouts. Set to open in mid-August, Vertigo is a 3,100-square-foot rooftop lounge that seats as many as 100 guests.
The spa at the Dana Hotel offers massage, facials, body treatments, and manicures and pedicures, many of which can be performed in guest rooms for a 20 percent surcharge. Groups can also be accommodated in the spa's five treatment rooms (including one dedicated couple's suite with an in-room shower) and lounge area.
