One of the final steps in a recent $21 million renovation of the DoubleTree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile, the Markethouse restaurant opened last week in Streeterville. Though managers say full buyouts will be rare since the restaurant serves three meals a day to hotel guests, the entire space has a maximum capacity of 160 and buyout requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Two smaller areas within the Markethouse are also available for private group dining: the Heartland Room, a circular, 30-seat area surrounded by curtains that can be open or closed; and the communal Harvest Table, which accommodates 14 and is located along one of the street-level windows at the front of the restaurant.
The Markethouse features a farm-to-table, comfort-food-themed menu with selections such as rotisserie chicken with candied lemon and fried green tomatoes with sweet-onion-corn relish.
Though the restaurant does not have audiovisual equipment, there is free internet access and a TV with updates about all OโHare and Midway flights in the adjacent hotel lobby.
