This week's roundup includes a look inside the Recording Academy's "Roaring '20s" Grammy party in Los Angeles, a dance floor with an orange-scented fountain in Chicago, a step-and-repeat lined with Quaker Oats products at the Sundance Film Festival, and a gala menu in Miami with jars of pâté at each place setting.

Immediately following the Grammy awards on Sunday, the Recording Academy’s official after-party took over a space within the Los Angeles Convention Center. The event had flamboyant performances that underscored its Roaring '20s design and decor.

Elite Productions International designed the Grammy party's floral decor, which appeared to float. The primarily purple blooms were placed at angles and varying heights for visual interest and decked the reception areas and performers' greenrooms.

To help guests warm up—and even break a sweat—popular fitness studio SoulCycle hosted a pop-up at Sky Lodge during the Sundance Film Festival. Open January 17 to 19, the activation had 30 bikes and classes led by top instructors.

The step-and-repeat at Quaker Oats' Sundance Film Festival activation was lined with stacked packages of the company's products.

Talking mannequins told guests all about rugs at the the Interior Design Show. Held at Metro Toronto Convention Centre January 23 to 26, the show had an unusual display from first-time exhibitor Korhani Home. Planners dressed mannequins in elaborate gowns made of rugs and grouped the statues into themed vignettes. Using video projection and surface-mapping technology, organizers placed moving faces onto the mannequins, who spoke in character to guide guests through each vignette.

After the success of distributing stuffed penguins at its Frozen Planet premiere, Discovery Communications started giving out plush toys at other events for the channel's blue chip shows. The screening for miniseries Klondike in New York on January 16 saw stuffed huskies placed on each seat.

In addition to a bar, fashioned like one from the series, the after-party area housed food stations serving on-theme fare. Items from caterer Abigail Kirsch included rib-eye steak with a chili-coffee spice rub and Yukon potato wedges with jalapeño oil, scallions, smoked sea salt, and homemade horseradish ketchup.

The National YoungArts Foundation hosted its annual gala on January 11. With a new name, the Backyard Ball, the event took place for the first time on the organization's new campus. Thierry Catering's homestyle menu items included hollowed-out tomatoes filled with chicken curry salad, fresh figs filled with cheese mousse, and jars of country-style pâté.

Parked in front of the January 10 event in Los Angeles, a car had a pattern that recalled fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg's famously bold prints.

An idea inspired by fashion: a 2012 gala took inspiration from Yves Saint Laurent, and more specifically, from the designer's Moroccan home, the Jardin Majorelle. To evoke the exotic setting, a scented fountain filled with oranges and candles spruced up the dance floor.
