Redmoon Theater hosted its annual "Spectacle Lunatique" gala at its Pilsen warehouse space in Chicago on Saturday night. Along with the unexpected sights and experiences that accompany any Redmoon event (this one had an indoor swing set and a fish strolling around in a field of bubbles), the night offered ideas for sponsor perks that went far beyond access to a V.I.P. lounge. Here's a look inside the wild evening, which rewarded donors by offering everything from fresh doughnut holes—served off a performer's head—to a private opera and a hot shave.

On the main floor, a series of "give and get" experiences treated guests to Redmoon-style activities after paying for the opportunity via BidPal. One such experience was called the "Bearthday Party," which let guests celebrate their birthday (whether it was their actual birthday) on stage with a bear and a clown. Other treats included a cupcake with a sparkler and a birthday serenade. The experience ended with an explosion of confetti from the theater's so-called confetti cannon. "It was like your own personal celebration of you," said a rep for the theater company.

V.I.P. guests had access to an area known as the Luna Lodge. In the space, which had two levels, they could indulge in spa-like activities including foot rubs. Unlike a spa setting, though, the foot rubs took place in bathtubs lined with pillows. The V.I.P. ticket price was $500 for an individual ticket, and sponsorship packages were also available for $5,000 or more.

Guests could also get haircuts in a pop-up salon. Stylists wore outfits with bow ties and tidy white button-down shirts, evoking an old-fashioned barbershop.

Cask and Courtesy, which curated bartenders for the evening's mixology bar (open to all attendees), also brought in a Manhattan cocktail fountain for the bar at the Luna Lodge.

Another experience, given to guests who bid $1,000 (including Mayor Rahm Emanuel, pictured), was a 10-minute dinner prepared by Schwa chef Michael Carlson. Along with the rapid meal, bidders were treated to a private opera performance and champagne service from the theater's champagne chandelier. Dishes included melon with carbonated peaches, short rib with dehydrated corn, and a caramel-apple-style dessert.

For another "give and get" experience, a trained remote-control pilot from Horizon Hobby loaded a "pastry drone" with a tray of sweets from the French Pasty School and West Town Bakery. He launched the drone from the second floor of the Luna Lodge.

Guests who bid on the pastry drone stood on a grassy stage on the ground floor, and the drone hovered nearby as they plucked sweets off its tray.

A costumed bear nodded to the theater's upcoming spring spectacle, "Bellboys, Bears, and Baggage." At the event, guests could bid $50 to play pool with the bear. Those who beat the bear at the game won a six-pack of beer.

General admission was $450, and all guests got to take in Redmoon's particular brand of surrealistic entertainment. One such spectacle was a performer strolling in a new fish mask created by a Redmoon artist. The "fish" left a thick trail of bubbles in its wake.

A performer with a giant cake atop her head showcased a new service device from the "Redmoon for Hire" program, which lets planners book Redmoon performers to entertain at events.

Another amenity that was offered to all guests: snacks from the "Cyclone Grill." Stationed at the entrance to the event, the fixture contained 16 grills donated by Weber. At the start of the night, the grills held roasted pig, plantains, and black beans from 90 Miles Cuban Cafe (whose staff came to the event site at 7 a.m. that morning to start roasting the pig). Later in the evening, the grills held slices of pizza. This summer, Redmoon will take the Cyclone Grill to 15 local neighborhoods to create community celebrations around healthy eating and exercise.

The evening included an award presentation. Howard Tullman was recognized as the "2014 Community Galvanizer," and the presentation of his award was accompanied by a personalized drum performance.
