Founded by restaurateur Peter Tsialiamanis, the 300-seat Taverna Opa restaurant was created around the Greek spirit of Opa, a gathering place for guests to celebrate the basic elements of life. With other locations already having become successful in South Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Hollywood, the celebratory restaurant where napkins get flung, tables get danced on, and plates get broken all in the spirit of fun has opened a new location at Pointe Orlando, as of August 1. The facility, known for its belly dancing and Greek music, gives off an island vibeβmixing plain white walls with square red wooden tables, an open kitchen, marble floors, and drawings of Greek symbols. For meeting planners, the venue and it's 80-seat semi-private space can be rented-out. Food specialties include tzatziki, spanakopita, kebabs, and numerous variations on lamb. A West Palm Beach location is also in the works.
